AFS History

Thailand

The tradition of volunteer service is deep and strong in AFS in war and peace. Ambulance and camion drivers who served in World Wars I and II, and particularly those who gave their lives, established the principles that have marked AFS activities ever since.

AFS India Returnees

2005: 35 Students to USA, 2 to Italy, 1 to Switzerland and 2 to Norway.

2006: 32 Students to USA, 3 to Japan, 1 to Italy, 1 to Hong Kong, 4 to USA, 2 to Switzerland.

2007: 41 Students to USA, 1 to Brazil and 3 to Japan.

2007: 51 Students & 6 Teachers to Japan on 2 weeks Jenesys Program

High School Exchange (one year/one semester)


Go to high school, live with a local family and have the time of your life! If you are between 15-17 years of age, it is the best time to apply. Programs you can apply for :

Scholarships 2009 Cycle

As of May 2008, AFS India is offering so far, 48 full scholarships and 167 partial scholarships for the 2009 cycle; that is for the students applying in 2008 to go abroad on a year school program during 2009.

AFS India is continuously seeking for more scholarships and has defined a goal of reaching at least 300 scholarships between full and partial ones.

These scholarships are offered to the best candidates after going through a selection process in their respective cities. To know more, click here!
