1. Talk with your family.
2. Make a decision to host as a family.
3. “Start the Hosting Process”: by filling out a Host Family Information Form. You may ask to our Local Chapter volunteer to provide you with the form.
4. Complete a “Host Family Application”: Once you have been contacted by our volunteers, they will hand out a full Application Form.
5. Speak with your “volunteer”: about setting up an interview with you and your family to answer any questions you may have.
6. Work with your local volunteer, who will match a participant with your family. You will see a student application that will have some commonality with your family.
7. Meet other host families and AFS Volunteers at a pre-arrival orientation. You will have the opportunity to share with other host families your experience and organize activities in the Local Chapter.
8. Your new family member arrives, and the journey of growing and learning together begins!
9. Participate in AFS activities year-round.
10. Receive ongoing volunteer support and assistance.
