Once you have finished these seminar, and you have decided that the program you have chosen is for you, then you will receive a request to Complete the “Full Application” over the internet. This application along with the attachments will be used in the future by an AFS Partner Country to find a good host family fit for you.
If you are not interested in applying for any scholarship, still you will need to go to the selection process, because AFS will select only the best qualifying students based on study performance, personal qualities and specific requirements define for each program. Only for those applying to a scholarship, a financial background analysis will be performed.
This is a good time to start “fundraising”. Your local volunteer can help you and your family think about fundraising activities for the balance of your tuition. Remember to apply early for the broadest range of scholarships, financial aid, and program availability. Once you’ve completed your AFS Application and decided to apply for an AFS Scholarship, you will need to complete an “AFS Scholarships & Financial Aid Application” for a particular scholarship.
5. After your application is reviewed by AFS India, you will receive a confirmation to proceed with the major intercultural workshop which starts on the internet. After completing the first Module, you will be called to participate in a conference to be organize on different locations all over India at certain dates. There will be several opportunities for you to attend. You’ll be interviewed by a local AFS Volunteer.
6. Send first deposit for Tuition If you have not obtained a full scholarship, you will need to submit INR45,000 for the tuition deposit in order to guarantee your participation in our programs. That is required prior to AFS sending your application abroad.
Your application will be sent to the AFS Partner Country in which you’ve indicated interest and for which you qualify. After the AFS Partner Country guarantees placement, you will be notified.
Refer to “Your AFS Tuition”: to determine when your tuition is due. Your invoice will reflect all financial aid and scholarships awarded through the invoice date. If you receive a scholarship after you have paid your invoice, we will give you a refund for the scholarship amount. AFS accepts most major credit cards.
8. Learn, Prepare, and Participate
Now’s the time to learn all that you can to help prepare you for life in a new country–and AFS can help. Between your country acceptance and departure, an AFS Volunteer will contact you to help you and your family prepare. You’ll attend an orientation where you will meet people who will answer questions and give you lots of helpful information. And you’ll also meet other students who will study abroad with AFS. It’s your time to share, prepare, and participate. Before you leave, you’ll also learn more by completing an AFS Orientation called Culture Trek.
9. Pack your bags and take off… but don’t forget to write!*
We’d love to hear about your experiences and see your photos, too. We may use what you send in an AFS Newsletter or on our web site. Send letters, stories, photos, etc. to our National Office in New Delhi. Include your name and contact information (home and abroad) so that we can get in touch with you.
