1st batch of 51 students and 6 teachers in 2007


AFS India in cooperation with Japan Government has started the Jenesys Program (Japan East Asia Network of Exchange for Students & Youths Program) for 2 weeks to Japan in December inviting 60 students and 6 teachers/educators.

The program will take place for next 5 years from 2007-2011.

The main objective of the program is to promote mutual understanding through youth exchange within the region, foster the establishment of good sentiments towards Japan among Asian countries.

The first batch in 2007 consisted a total of 51 students and 6 teachers from all over the country.

Criteria to apply (for students):

  • You must be aged between age 15-17 years
  • Understand and agree to the aims of the project
  • You should be enrolled in high school at the time of the application
  • Be capable of adjusting to stay with a local in Japan and have the ability to conduct daily conversation in English or Japanese
  • Preferred not to have joined a similar invitation program to Japan
  • Preference for non-vegetarian students (not compulsory)
